Here are a few ways to show support and raise awareness.

  • Take time to deepen your own understanding of autism by reading, and watching videos about Autism and talking with others
  • Spend time with someone with autism and get a better understanding of the world from their point of view
  • Become an “ambassador of understanding” by helping others develop their knowledge of autism, focusing on strengths and unique talents as well as underlying challenges - and by providing practical tips
  • Promote the inclusion of individuals with autism in schools and workplaces along with the support needed to help them succeed
  • Participate in one of the autism walks in Oregon or across the country
  • Donate to a credible organization researching autism and effective treatments
  • Advocate with your legislators or join an organization promoting policies that will positively impact individuals with autism with regard to education, employment, health care, and housing
  • And on Tuesday, April 2nd…Recognize World Autism Acceptance Day
