Kirby Erickson
Kirby Erickson has lived in rural southern Oregon for over 20 years and is the mother of a 24-year-old daughter living with Down syndrome and ASD. Her husband’s family has lived in Josephine County for five generations where they have a small organic farm in Grants Pass with a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). For the last 18 1/2 years she has worked in the field of special education - first at Josephine Co. Early Intervention Services as an E.I. Specialist and then as an ASD Specialist. She is beginning her 6th year as a Regional ASD Specialist with So. Or. Education Service District. Kirby is also a licensed Registered Nurse and a Certified Developmental Disabilities Nurse and a contributing member of our local CDRC Community Connections Network. From 1991-2000 she was a parent representative on the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities. She has also served on the Board of Directors for several years of our local adult services brokerage- Creative Supports, Inc. In 2000 she served on the Governor’s Task Force on Autism Spectrum Disorder as a parent representative. In addition she served 6 years as a Board member for our local Coalition for Kids, a non-profit organization that collaborates with other local agencies that support children and families. Kirby’s B.A. is in Physiology from University of California (Berkeley) and she holds a M.S. Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Oregon (emphasis on Autism).
