Community Services for Children & Families
Charge:
Develop a plan for providing services and supports for children with ASD and their families that address the needs of the child and supports the role of the family.
Goals
- Identify current supports and services for children with ASD and their families.
- Identify best practice models in the public and private sector.
- Identify the gaps and barriers in services and supports to children and their families in Oregon across the spectrum and make prioritized recommendations for addressing the gaps.
- Develop strategies to improve the public and private sector awareness of the specific needs of children experiencing ASD and their families in employment, healthcare, housing, transportation, recreation, education, public safety and first responders.
- Identify opportunities to enhance effectiveness through collaboration and integration of services and supports within the public sector and across the public and private sector.
- Clarify issues and make recommendations related to eligibility.
- Address the issues of children and families not eligible for publicly funded services.
- Address the issues of availability, competency, training, and quality of providers.

Navigation Map
The Navigation Map to Services for Children with ASD is now ready in both English & Spanish. This wonderful new resource provides parents of children with a recent diagnosis of ASD an overview of the different tracks of support systems (Medical, Education, Developmental Disability Services, and Community). There are 4 regional versions, all with Spanish translations. The Mid-Valley region (Benton, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Polk, Tillamook, and Yamhill counties) also has an insert with a list of “Local Resources” to contact.
